Border Crisis Prompts One Arizona Town to Declare a “State of Emergency”

Anyone who thinks everything is fine under Joe Biden’s watch has not been paying attention. On the campaign trail, Biden promised normalcy and a return to sanity.

Biden’s campaign promises had some nuggets of truth to them. The normalcy he called for meant a reversion to the globalist policies pre-Trump presidential administrations pursued i.e. open borders, never-ending wars, political correctness, etc.

On immigration, Biden’s lax border policies have created a humanitarian crisis at the border that has many Americans very jittery about the prospects of massive numbers of potential laborers displacing American workers and a large flow of violent criminals entering the country.

The mayor of Gila Bend, an Arizona town near the Mexican border, recently declared a state of emergency in light of the growing border invasion.

Chris Riggs, Gila Bend’s mayor, went on Fox News where he took shots at the Biden administration for transporting illegal aliens on buses to his town of 2,000 people.

“Border Patrol let us know that they were going to be dropping migrants that had been detained for 72 hours in our town, which we really didn’t understand because we have nothing here,” Riggs said during his Fox interview.

“We have no charity organizations that can help, no non-governmental organizations that a lot of the larger cities and towns do have to assist these people.”

According to Samuel Allegri of the Epoch Times, Riggs explained that his town has not “received any federal or state assistance, and that the illegal immigrants being dropped off in his town can’t get food, lodging, or COVID testing.”

Riggs added that crime has been on the rise in Gila Bend lately, revealing that roughly 20 illegal aliens are entering the town “on foot almost daily.”

In response to D.C.’s negligent immigration policies, Arizona pursued legal avenues to throw a wrench in the Biden administration’s new regulations. The state argued that the Biden administration’s new measures would negatively impact Arizona.

Under Biden’s new rules, ICE’s ability to detain certain illegal aliens will be greatly restricted. The only illegal immigrants that ICE will still have relative flexibility in arresting are those who pose a national security threat, those who crossed the border after November 1, or illegals who have committed aggravated felonies.

The Biden administration claims that the regulations don’t prevent them from arresting or deporting people, but field officers would still need to ask their superiors for permission to arrest individuals who commit acts that don’t fall within the aforementioned parameters.

“If asked about the poorest policy choice I’ve ever seen in government, this would be a strong contender,” Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich declared in a statement. “Blindly releasing thousands of people, including convicted criminals and those who may be spreading COVID-19 into our state, is both unconscionable and a violation of federal law. This must be stopped now to avoid a dangerous humanitarian crisis for the immigrants and the people of Arizona.”

Due to the Biden administration’s blatant disregard for the sanctity of border security, states and localities close to the border have to step up and expose the federal government’s negligence. Some states may actually have to proactively create their own border security policies and ways of combatting illegal immigration.

Definitely not ideal, but that’s where we’re at in 2021. Crazy times require adaptation.
