Former Georgetown Basketball Omari Faulkner is Running a Pro-Second Amendment Campaign Against Virginia Senator Mark Warner

An ex-Georgetown University basketball player, Omari Faulkner, recently launched a pro-Second Amendment campaign against Virginia Senator Mark Warner.

After his stint as a basketball player at Georgetown University, Faulkner served as a U.S. diplomat and a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy Reserves.

According to a report from AWR Hawkins at Breitbart, Faulkner declared he is running for office because the news reports from Virginia are filled with “conflict that divides us” and “politicians who fail us.” He proclaimed that “It is time to stand up for the people and values of Virginia and reignite the American Dream for our children.”

Faulkner told the Daily Wire that he is a staunch pro-Second Amendment defender. He expanded on his thoughts:

I am a staunch supporter of the 2nd Amendment. Growing up in poor areas of Memphis, TN, I witnessed first-hand loved ones be victim to gun violence. It is not law-abiding citizens who are committing these crimes – it’s criminals. Virginia Democrats are wrong in their attempts to criminalize Virginians’ 2nd Amendment rights. We need to talk about mental health and other ways to prevent gun violence, but taking away Constitutional rights is not the answer.

Faulkner believes Second Amendment rights–as well as other natural rights–are “God-given,” and must be defended.

On January 10, 2020, Virginia lawmakers banned guns at the State Capitol which prompted a response from Faulkner.

Faulkner tweeted:

Vile people with the intent to harm will NOT be stopped by any mode of weapon. Yet again, far left Democrats lose focus on the root of an issue. Banning our #2A rights to protect ourselves is not the answer.

Virginia’s changing demographics have largely contributed to it turning into a solidly blue state, which now has long-lasting consequences for Second Amendment related issues.

With how heated gun politics have become, a candidate like Faulkner would be the perfect person to take the fight to the political establishment and re-assert Second Amendment rights in Old Dominion.
