Four American Troops are Injured Following an Encounter with Russian troops in Syria

According to a report by Sputnik News, four American soldiers were allegedly wounded during a confrontation with Russian troops in northern Syria on August 28, 2020.

Politico originally presented the news on August 26 and cited a draft Defense Department statement and an unnamed source.

The report noted that the four American service members were diagnosed with mild concussion-like symptoms.

Additionally, Politico highlighted that a second American source briefed on the incident confirmed that various American forces were injured during the encounter.

The Pentagon and the Russian Defense Ministry have not made statements on the report.

An online video has emerged of American forces attempting to block a Russian patrol from driving across a field.

Since 2014, the U.S.’s coalition has been running operations against ISIS in Syria without a UN mandate or authorization from the Syrian government. Syria’s government has repeatedly criticized Washington’s military actions in the Middle Eastern country as illegal.

Regardless of what the narrative is coming from either Washington or Moscow, the U.S. should no longer be in Syria and actually bring back as many troops as possible so that they can be better used for border defense and maintain public order during national riots.
