Gun Control Group Goes on a Spending Spree to Flip Minnesota Senate

On July 14, the Everytown for Gun Safety Victory Fund announced that it plans to spend a minimum of $1 million to have Democrats recapture the Minnesota Senate and maintain control of the Minnesota House.

The Senate is being focused on because Republicans hold a slim, three-vote majority in the chamber. Gun controllers have been frustrated by the Republican-controlled Senate blocking legislation such as universal background checks and “red flag” gun confiscation orders.

Everytown’s fund and Moms Demand Action have teamed up to target 12 Senate districts under Republican control. In addition, they have their sights on five GOP-controlled House districts while attempting to defend a dozen seats held by anti-gun politicians.

Charlie Kelly, a national senior advisor for Everytown’s electoral arm, declared that $1 million could go “extraordinarily far” in Minnesota simply due to the fact that Democrats don’t need to flip many seats.

“Our boots on the ground were a big part of flipping the House and the governor’s mansion (in 2018) and you’re going to see that again in 2020,” he proclaimed. The group also boasts its electoral success in Virginia during the 2019 election cycle and its subsequent passage pf anti-gun legislation during the 2020 session of the General Assembly.

“No one knows the power of suburban moms better than Moms Demand Action,” commented Jessica Deweerth, the co-leader of the Moms’ state chapter in Minnesota. “They’re upset and ready to see action.”

Billionaire oligarch Michael Bloomberg co-founded and financed Everytown. The anti-gun organization has plans of spending $60 million during the 2020 elections and supports Democrat candidate Joe Biden.

Minnesota is already one of the most anti-gun states in the country, with a ranking of 39th place according to Guns & Ammo’s best states for gun owners rankings. The state will likely fall a few more spots should Democrats come back into power in Minnesota.

Republicans in Minnesota should do everything possible to keep the Senate and flip the House. Democrats simply do not let opportunities go to waste once they hold power.
