Lauren Boebert is Wondering Why France, not the US, Can Run a Timely and Transparent Election

On April 10, 2022, French citizens went to the polls for the first round of the French presidential elections. Once the final ballots were cast, incumbent Emmanuel Macron received the highest percentage of the vote, with roughly 28% of French voters pulling the lever for him. He’ll now be facing off against upstart right wing populist Marine Le Pen, who received 23% of the vote, in the second round of elections that are set to take place on April 24, 2022.

Many onlookers in the US watched with amazement at how well this election was conducted. The French election transpired in a timely manner, with little to no hiccups.

Lauren Boebert noted this in a tweet she posted on April 10:

“The socialist nation of France held elections today.

In that election there was no mail-in voting, early voting or use of voting machines.

There was a mandatory proof of ID to vote.

Why can’t we get that basic election security here?”

Ohio Senate Candidate JD Vance also chimed in

“I have a buddy in France, and they just had an election there. Polls closed a few hours ago and they already know who the winners are. Must be nice to live in a first world country.”

After the 2020 election fiasco, liberty conservatives need to make election integrity a key part of their platforms. There’s no excuse for a developed, First World nation like the United States to be running its elections in a Third World like manner. It needs to re-tool its election standards and protect it from potential fraud and irregularities.

What’s the point of democracy if people can’t even trust the results of elections?
