Neocon Exposed: Mario Diaz-Balart is No Friend of America First

As the Biden era is upon us, we should never forget about the importance of holding Republican elected officials accountable. Republicans usually talk a big game out of power, but when they’re in power, they do nothing at best. At worst, they end up mimicking the Left.

Just look at Mario Diaz-Balart. Diaz-Balart is a seasoned member of the neoconservative establishment in Washington, D.C. That means he is a major advocate for the Invade the World, Invite the World policies that neocons generally espouse.

Just recently, Diaz-Balart was advocating for extending Temporary Protected Status to Venezuelan refugees. In a tweet he published on January 5, 2021, Diaz-Balart revealed that he is working with Democrat congressional officials such as Darren Soto and Debbie Wassermann Schultz to extend this protective status.

During a time when Americans are having to put up with the debilitating effects of lockdowns and now blackouts due to an unprecedented winter storm, the last thing policymakers should even consider is expanding immigration. Diaz-Balart has a notable track record of voting for pro-mass migration bills, so him pushing for such legislation is normal.

Even worse, he was one of 11 Republicans who voted to strip Marjorie Taylor Greene of all her committee assignments, The Taylor Greene hatred is a media creation and Diaz-Balart fell for the corporate media’s fear mongering. Taylor Greene represents the new standard Republicans should follow — full-throated defense of American values such as the Second Amendment and a willingness to challenge legacy institutions —  and the fact that Diaz-Balart threw her under the bus shows he’s an establishment guy through and through.

There are plenty of Diaz-Balarts in Congress. They represent the Bush era style conservatism that maintains porous borders, never-ending wars, and politically correct behavior when confronting the Left. To move forward, we cannot tolerate this kind of GOP behavior. That means we must be willing to single out Republicans who don’t abide by nationalist principles.

If America First nationalists want to make any tangible political progress, they must have strong standards for the politicians they champion. In addition, they must be willing to hold politicians accountable for dropping the ball on certain votes, by launching attacks ads, public awareness campaigns, and eventually primary challenges. The latter will be crucial in creating a political realignment within the GOP or at the very least sending a message that we will no longer tolerate mediocre representation.

One way we can start cleaning up the GOP is by targeting elected officials like Mario Diaz-Balart.
