NICS Background Checks and Gun Sales Continue to Break Records in June 2020

No matter what the media say, Americans are getting armed.

And there’s nothing anti-gunners can do about it.

Dean Weingarten of AmmoLand highlighted how June 2020 broke the record for the highest number of background checks conducted.

In that month, the National Instant Background Check System (NICS) recorded a total of 3,931,607 background checks.

Weingarten observed that “2.13 million guns sold in one month is an extraordinary number of sales for June.”

He added that “Every month in 2020 has been a record, so far. May, June, and July are traditionally slow months for firearms sales.”

Monthly estimates indicate that over 10 million firearms have been solid in the first half of 2020.

Contrary to popular belief, Americans are behaving rationally. They clearly see their cities going up in flames thanks to Antifa and Black Lives Matter agitators and irresponsible elected officials. As a result, they are taking personal security matters into their own hands by arming themselves.

Weingarten highlighted some bigger picture trends regarding America’s firearms shopping spree:

If the current trend continues, as seems likely, more than 20 million guns will be sold in 2020. According to NSSF estimates, 40% of those sales are to new gun owners. Eight million new gun owners can have a very significant effect in national elections.

The right to bears arms is deeply ingrained in Americans’ DNA. No leftist talk show or weak gun control scheme will completely keep them from exercising their rights.

Liberty conservatives should recognize that the Second Amendment is alive and well. Making the Second Amendment the center point of a political campaign is clearly a win-win these days.
