Rand Paul Blocks $40 Billion Federal Payout to Ukraine

Sen. Rand Paul is blocking a $40 billion federal payout to Ukraine, as the liberty-leaning lawmaker takes a stand for fiscal responsibility and against foreign intervention.

“My oath of office is to the U.S. Constitution, not any foreign nation…We cannot save Ukraine by dooming the U.S. economy,” Paul said on the Senate floor. “It isn’t that we always have to be the Uncle Sam, the policeman that saves the world, particularly when it’s on borrowed money.”

Because of Paul’s courageous move, approval of the $40 billion welfare payment to Ukraine’s puppet government will be stalled for at least a week. Leaders in both major political parties, including Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY), wanted to ramrod the measure through as quickly as possible after the House approved the spending by a 368-57 vote on Tuesday.

“No matter how sympathetic the cause, my oath of office is to the national security of the United States of America,” Paul said. “We cannot save Ukraine by dooming the U.S. economy.”

Paul’s full speech on the Senate floor can be seen here:

Liberty Conservative News has reported on Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) speaking out against the Ukraine foreign aid bill as well:

Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene is having none of the recent push to dump $40 billion in military and “humanitarian’ aid. She was one of 57 Republicans who voted against this monstrosity of an aid package.

Greene tweeted about her vote against the Ukraine First spending bill, “I want to remind Congress we swore an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America.

“It’s time to pay attention to our country and our borders.

Today, I’m voting NO to the $40 Billion America LAST Ukraine First spending bill.”

… Props to Greene. Thankfully, nearly 60 Republicans with a spine stood up against this nonsense. During a time when many Americans are suffering economically, the last thing that Congress should be considering is the delivery of economic and military aid to a corrupt government that’s embroiled in a geopolitical act of Slav-on-Slav violence.

It is a sign of our dysfunctional times when politicians are working hard to send money to foreign nations rather than investing in America’s crumbling infrastructure and securing our borders. That’s how things go in Clown World USA.

Hopefully, Greene gets more America First patriots to join here in standing against this globalist insanity once the 2022 midterms conclude.

Paul is once again showing that he is one of the few lawmakers with the interests of the American people, not foreign powers, in mind when conducting legislative business in Washington D.C.
