Rand Paul Stands with Thomas Massie Against Potential RINO Primary Challenger

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) is under attack from the GOP establishment, and his partner-in-liberty Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) is coming to his defense.

The Louisville Courier Journal reports that national Republican organizations will be using establishment money in an attempt to unseat Massie, who has the most constitutional voting record of any Republican in all of Congress.

Kentucky State Rep. Kim Moser of Taylor Mill is likely being groomed to take out Massie. She boasts her moderate record and willingness to work with the Washington D.C. swamp over Massie’s principled constitutionalism.

“We land on the same place on some issues, and obviously we’re both very conservative and libertarian-leaning,” she said. “But I would fall more in the pragmatic, solution-oriented camp and that’s always going to be my issue. I think it’s fine to disagree, but I’m always looking for solutions, and that’s not what I see from Congressman Massie.”

“If the Courier Journal knows about a viable plan from the swamp to take me out, please let me know, because I don’t,” Massie said to the newspaper. “In the meantime, I’ll keep draining it.”

Paul, the two-term Senator who rose to prominence with the tea party movement, is firmly in Massie’s corner.

The Courier Journal reports that moderate U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) is looking to target Massie to replace him with a woman in order to put more females into Congress to play identity politics with the Democrats. Her spokeswoman denies the allegations.

Regardless of whether these rumors are true or not, the Club for Growth is ready to get behind Massie to protect his seat in Congress based on Massie’s strong record in support of free market principles.

The grassroots conservatives of Kentucky are firmly behind Massie too, as they see him as their only representative with the backbone to stand strong and live up to his campaign rhetoric to the voters.

“Hal Rogers is the ‘king of pork’; Brett Guthrie has voted for more spending than any other Kentucky Congressman; Jamie Comer has separated himself from the establishment on a few occasions but typically follows the herd. Andy Barr is establishment all the way, what ever the leadership wants, he’s only too happy to give it to them, even if its unconstitutional,” said Scott Hofstra, a United Kentucky Tea Party spokesman.

“Congressman Massie is the only real representative the citizens of Kentucky have in Washington,” he added.

If the GOP establishment wants to use valuable resources that could be spent on defeating Democrats to try and give Massie the boot, they will have a hell of a fight on their hands in 2020.
