State Senator Wants to Make Oklahoma More Pro-Gun by Introducing 2A-Friendly Tax Credit Bill

Pro-gun champion Nathan Dahm, a State Senator out of Oklahoma, unveiled a new bill on Wednesday, November 13, 2019.

In this bill, SB 1090, Oklahomans who take gun safety classes would receive a tax credit.

Dahm was responsible for championing Oklahoma’s constitutional carry law which went into effect earlier this month.

“Since constitutional carry has gone into effect, many people have expressed concerns about no longer forcing people to undergo government-mandated training in order to exercise their rights,” Dahm said in a news release.

Under constitutional carry, any law-abiding individual is allowed to carry a firearm without having to beg the government for permission.

SB 1090’s tax credit would cover the cost of safety courses in addition to the “expenses associated with acquiring gun licenses for those who choose to get them” according to a report from the Tulsa World.

“Whether it’s our Second Amendment rights to bear arms, First Amendment rights to free speech, exercising our religion, or truthfully engaging in the freedom of press, it is important that we all use our rights without harm to others,” Dahm stated.

The estimated costs of the credit are not clear, and the bill may find resistance in the Legislature, which has been reluctant to take on new tax credit programs during the last few years.

Dahm has already established himself as one of the most pro-gun legislators in the nation.

It’s great that a liberty conservative is going the extra mile in trying to make his state even more pro-gun.

Oklahoma is already ranked in 5th place for Best States for Gun Owners according to Guns & Ammo magazine.

Unlike most of his colleagues who are likely satisfied with passing Constitutional Carry and leaving it at that, Dahm wants to put Oklahoma in the number one spot.

For that reason, liberty conservatives in Oklahoma should definitely get behind Dahm’s efforts.

America needs more pro-gun bastions.
