Thomas Massie Meets with Heroic Gun Owner Who Stopped a Mass Murder in Progress

Stephen Willeford prevented a historic tragedy back on November 5, 2017.

A resident of Sutherland Springs, Texas, Willeford used his AR-15 rifle in self-defense to wound Devin Patrick Kelley, who gunned down 26 people at First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs. In shooting Kelley, Willeford stopped a mass shooting in progress that could have resulted in a record-breaking kill count.

Kelley was banned from purchasing or possessing firearms and ammunition because of a domestic violence conviction he received while serving in the United States Air Force. This represented a major oversight on the part of the Air Force, which still hasn’t been taken to task for its inability to sufficiently punish Kelley and ensure that he could never acquire a firearm.

On March 30, 2022, Willeford paid the Second Amendment Caucus a visit as a guest speaker. Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massie tweeted about Willeford’s speech:

Stephen Willeford is a “good guy with a gun.” On Nov. 5, 2017, Willeford used his AR-15 rifle to confront an active shooter at the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas. Willeford hit the shooter with all six shots he took, stopping a mass murder in progress.”

Colorado Congresswoman Lauren Boebert also tweeted about this pro-Second Amendment get together. In her Twitter post, she stated, “It was wonderful to have Stephen Willeford, the hero of the tragic Sutherland Springs shooting, as our guest speaker for the Second Amendment Caucus meeting! It was also great to see Erich Pratt whose book, Firing Back, is outstanding! @RepThomasMassie

The Second Amendment Caucus is a congressional caucus made up of conservative and libertarian Republican members of the US House who are strong pro-Second Amendment champions. 16 members of the House belong to this caucus, most prominent being Paul Gosar, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert, and Thomas Massie.

This caucus will play a prominent role in the restoration of Second Amendment rights in the US. Liberty conservatives should make it a point to get more pro-gun Republicans elected and have them join this caucus.
