Woke Millennials Demand To Culturally Appropriate Minority Culture For Educational Purposes

California State University Fullerton students went out on the streets supporting California Assembly Bill 1460, which mandates students to take a course in ethnic studies.

According to a The Daily Titan report, college administrators are somewhat worried about the bill due to its “unprecedented” nature. Academic Senate Vice Chair Alejandro Gradilla said California has passed legislation mandating courses for colleges.

The legislation language claims that ethnic studies are present because “students of color” have demanded them.

Additionally, the bill claims ethnic studies are an “interdisciplinary and comparative study of race and ethnicity with special focus on four historically defined racialized core groups … ”

CSUF grad student Javi Rodriguez argued that “ethnic studies are needed because people need to learn the historical context of racism and how it impacts all of us.”

The CSUF Academic Senate greenlight a resolution “supporting campus autonomy” for enacting the legislation, and tacked on amendments, with one saying that any ethnic studies course must have “an emphasis on the examination of oppression, racism, capitalism, patriarchy and their related social justice movements.”

However, CSUF President Fram Virjee voiced his opposition to 1460. He argued that the mandate “would starkly omit women and gender Studies and the LGBTQ community from the area of study.” This is likely due to the legislation’s “four historically defined racialized core groups”  which are listed as Native Americans, African Americans, Asian Americans, and Hispanics.

Virjee was criticized for this comment.

The departments of gender and queer studies responded to Virjee in a statement they released: “Ethnic studies is intertwined with gender and sexuality studies, and therefore could never omit their disciplines.”

California’s radical leftism has clearly affected its educational institutions.

Identity politics, which is one of the calling cards of the modern-day Left, is very popular in university campuses.

To consolidate their hold over universities, the Left will capitalize on bills like AB 1460 to continue indoctrinating students and make them more receptive to cultural radicalism.
