The mass shootings that happened over the weekend in El Paso, TX and Dayton, OH, followed by a submissive national address by President Donald Trump, are enabling the worst RINOs of the GOP to seize the moment and push for additional gun control measures.
The betrayal of the 2nd Amendment is being led by neocon Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Pat Toomey (R-PA) and Marco Rubio (R-FL). They are working with Democrats to push “red flag” gun confiscation laws and stronger background checks to create more impediments against the 2nd Amendment of the Constitution.
“I spoke with the President this morning about this proposal and he seems very supportive,” Graham said in a statement released yesterday.
“Many of these shootings involved individuals who showed signs of violent behavior that are either ignored or not followed up. State Red Flag laws will provide the tools for law enforcement to do something about many of these situations before it’s too late,” he added.
Rubio endorsed the idea in a tweet, hoping to build off of the additional gun control that he helped pass following last year’s mass shooting tragedy at a Parkland, FL high school.

Meanwhile, Toomey is leading the charge on additional background checks legislation and doing his best to persuade Senate Republican leadership to back the measure.
“If we have enough support in the Senate then we ought to have a vote,” Toomey said. ”And I intend to do everything I can to persuade Sen. McConnell if that’s necessary.”
A recent statement from Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) indicates that he is ready to capitulate and usher in new gun control measures as well.

The Gun Owners of America (GOA) is fiercely opposing new background check restrictions, even as the National Rifle Association (NRA) softens on potential gun control measures.
“If H.R. 8 and H.R. 1112 pass the Senate, they would mandate UNIVERSAL background checks, ban private gun sales, and create a federal registry of U.S. gun owners,” the GOA explained in an action alert from earlier this year.
“And if you refuse to comply — even if you just hand your gun to a friend for a SECOND— you’d be sent to prison under many circumstances,” they added.
The GOA is also sounding the alarm about red flag laws and the potential for abuses that would arise from this push by pandering Republicans at war with the Constitution.
“These proposals generally begin with the police or an ‘angry ex’ making a telephone call to a judge. And, based on that telephone call, the judge can issue an order stripping you of your Second, Fourth, Fifth, and Fourteenth Amendment rights,” they explained in a call to action. “With no actual hearing and no due process whatsoever.”
The GOA notes that one man has already been killed as a result of the enforcement of unconstitutional red flag laws, and that death toll will be sure to increase if Senate RINOs – enabled by the feckless President Trump – get their way.
