Paul Blair dropped a thread on a White House meeting that involved President Trump, United States Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar, and Trump’s Senior Counselor Kellyanne Conway on vaping.
Blair said there “was a lively discussion” as well as “intense moments of dialogue and disagreements at time.” He added, there were “no real surprises in terms of where people fell.”
This was a lively discussion; there were intense moments of dialogue and disagreements at time. The President allowed every organization and every person there to make their case for their desired outcome on this issue. There were no real surprises in terms of where people fell.

According to Blair, Mitt Romney “made a genuine fool of himself by proclaiming that adults don’t actually use or need flavors and essentially saying that he does not care about adults who rely on flavors or the jobs associated with selling flavored products.”
Of course @MittRomney made a genuine fool of himself by proclaiming that adults don't actually use or need flavors and essentially saying that he does not care about adults who rely on flavors or the jobs associated with selling flavored products. He was very condescending.

Unlike many Boomer politicians, Trump understands the consequences of prohibition. Blair noted the following statement from Trump: “You watch prohibition… If you don’t give it to them, it is going to come here illegally… They could be selling something on a street corner that could be horrible… They are going to have a flavor that is poison.”
Trump gets consequences of prohibition: "You watch prohibition… If you don't give it to them, it is going to come here illegally… They could be selling something on a street corner that could be horrible… They are going to have a flavor that is poison." He's right.

He then congratulated “@VaporTechAssoc, @GregTHR and @NJOYVape for their strong defense of vapor consumers and businesses, especially NJOY.”
I want to applaud @VaporTechAssoc @GregTHR and @NJOYVape for their strong defense of vapor consumers and businesses, especially NJOY. Man these guys killed it today.

Blair highlighted that Trump “facilitated a significant conversation about regulations/rules that included almost all significant voices on the issue of vaping, both pro and con” and that “We never saw that sort of conversation facilitated by Obama. Ever.”

President Trump should be commended for his level-headed response to this issue.
When most politicians would either ban or heavily regulate vaping items, Trump is exercising rational judgement and not jumping towards a heavy-handed government response.
Such restraint is uncommon among recent executives and is a demonstration that Trump has been one of the more reasonable presidents of the last 50 years. Trump has disappointed on some issues such as gun rights, but his instincts on other issues tend to be solid.
That’s why liberty conservatives should work hard to get people elected in both the House and Senate who will introduce pro-liberty legislation. In doing so, they can work with President Trump and steer him in a pro-liberty direction.
