Andy Biggs Promises to Look Into DOJ’s Illegal Surveillance of Project Veritas

The rule of law is a concept that is quickly eroding in America.

Case in point: Project Veritas’ allegations of prosecutors with the Department of Justice lying in court to get their hands on the non-profit journalist organization’s emails.

As Shane Trejo of Big League Politics previously reported:

The FBI raided the home of Veritas founder James O’Keefe and two other individuals working with the organization in November of last year over the diary of Ashley Biden. Veritas attorneys have written a letter featuring evidence they believe shows that DOJ prosecutors abused gag orders in order to obscure key evidence to the judge who authorized the warrants for the raids.

“The government’s failure to disclosure its other privilege invasions makes a mockery of these proceedings,” Project Veritas attorney Paul Calli previously wrote in a letter directed to U.S. District Court Judge Analisa Torres.

“The government already had in place mechanisms for circumventing these protective processes and invading Project Veritas’s First Amendment and attorney-client privileges, the existence of which the prosecutors concealed from counsel for Project Veritas and its journalists and, we believe, from the Court,” he added.

“It is impossible for us to understand how the government convinced multiple Magistrate Judges to extend non-disclosure orders for an investigation that was already public and widely-reported,” Calli noted. “Project Veritas had the right to know of these government infringements….The government’s clandestine invasions of journalist’s [sic] communications corrode the rule of law.”

At the time, Project Veritas’ legal counsel made allegations of extreme misconduct in the way the DOJ handled their case against them. This incident put on display the deep state’s malevolent agenda. The deep state is no longer playing games and it’s willing to persecute those who dissent against the managerial regime.

Arizona Congressman Andy Biggs is one of the few elected officials who understands what’s at stake when it comes to Project Veritas’ present ordeal.

He tweeted on March 24, “Biden’s DOJ is reportedly spying on Project Veritas journalists and attempted to hide it from a federal judge. The attempt was so egregious that even the ACLU has said it “could have serious consequences for press freedom.”

I’ll be looking more into this situation.

Biggs is an outlier in the GOP in how he gets the big picture issues. America is clearly in a post-Constitutional phase where the rule of law is an afterthought. Liberty conservatives must grasp this new reality of American politics. Having the right political ideas is only one part of the equation. Liberty conservatives must be willing to go the extra mile by using prudential forms of state power to punish their enemies.

The days of policy debates are over. Massive action is needed to correct course in America.
