Andy Biggs Warns About Russian Border Crossers

Americans’ attention is focused on the Russia-Ukraine conflict, which has diverted their focus from a much more pressing crisis at the southern border.

There are few elected officials who understand the gravity of the present situation at the border. Arizona Congressman Andy Biggs, whose state witnesses firsthand the horror of open borders on a daily basis, grasps the mass migration question, especially its national security implications.

Biggs tweeted on April 4, 2022, “I’ve been recently made aware of reports of an increase in Russians attempting to enter the country and have serious concerns of what this could mean for our national security.

Secretary Mayorkas must provide more clarity about this situation.”

With how porous the US border is, all sorts of foreign nations are likely flooding it as we speak. For decades, the US has neglected its southern border, which sends a clear message to migrants looking for handouts and even malicious actors that their treks into the US are well worth it due to the relative ease of entering the country.

It’s anyone’s guess if Russian nationals are actually swarming the border. Moreover, it’s still speculative to assume that these nationals are subversive agents who are looking to wreak havoc inside the US should they successfully cross the southern border.

When a country plays dangerous geopolitical games abroad, it should expect blowback in the most asymmetric of forms. The US is constantly trying to increase its military presence in Eastern Europe and use subversive agents to mess with Russia. So, I wouldn’t put it past Russia to respond in kind with its own disruptive measures.

Regardless, the US needs to straighten out its priorities. Instead of trying to police the globe and stretch its defense resources, the US should retrench and concentrate its defense resources on our border. Maintaining national integrity is one of the primary functions of any serious nation state. Failure to accomplish this is the province of a failed state.
