Anti-Democracy Group Wants to Keep Andy Biggs and Paul Gosar Off the Ballot

At this point in American history, large swathes of the population are ready to impose tyranny on their political opposition. That’s polarization for you.

The ironically named Free Speech for People has been leading the way in filing lawsuits against populist incumbents who have been involved in allegedly inciting an insurrection in the lead up to the January 6 storming of the Capitol. The endgame in these cases is to remove these elected officials from office by preventing them from running for re-election.

Free Speech for People is now planning to appeal a Maricopa County judge’s decision to throw away its lawsuit that aimed to prohibit three GOP elected officials — Arizona Congressmen Andy Biggs and Paul Gosar and State Representative Mark Finchem —  from being on the ballot for their alleged support of the January 6 storming of the Capitol.

In a ruling he issued on April 22, 2022, Superior Court Judge Christopher Coury declared that this ruling “neither validates nor disproves” the assertion that Biggs, Gosar and Finchem participated in an insurrection. However, Coury, according to a report by Camila Pedrosa at Cronkite News, stated that “the voters did not have standing to challenge their qualification for the ballot on those grounds.”

Biggs was elated about the dismissal of what he described as a “frivolous”  lawsuit that amounts to “political harassment.” Similarly, in a statement that he released on April 24, Gosar described the assertions as “abusive” and congratulated Coury for being a “good judge who understands the law and the rules.”

Free Speech for People is hell-bent on depriving voters nationwide of anti-establishment incumbents. For example, FSP is involved in pressing similar claims against North Carolina Congressman Madison Cawthorn and Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene.

FSP has invoked the 14th Amendment in all three cases. This amendment bans individuals from holding office if they are “engaged in insurrection or rebellion” against the government.

It’s become abundantly clear that the Left is not interested in having any meaningful opposition to it. They’re not interested in debate. As a matter of fact, they’re more interested in domination and subjugation of their opponents. Liberty conservatives must stand strong and defend the likes of Marjorie Taylor Greene, Paul Gosar, and Andy Biggs.

We cannot let the Left dictate the terms of the debate and we sure as hell can’t let leftists interfere in elections where the voters have clearly spoken in.
