Gonzalo Lira is Alive and Well

On April 15, 2022, YouTuber Gonzalo Lira reportedly went missing.

He was originally slated to appear on George Galloway’s The Mother of All Talkshows on April 17. This led to speculation of Lira being abducted and even being murdered by Ukrainian security services (SBU) or far-right militias.

However on April 22, 2022, Lira made an appearance on the Duran’s YouTube channel with Alex Christoforou. Christoforou is one half of the Duran channel, which is also hosted by Alexander Mercouris.

Lira was not particularly open about his encounter with the SBU, which suggested that he had been placed under house arrest by the Ukrainian security service.

Lira started his career as a novel writer and filmmaker. He would subsequently make a pivot towards financial analysis as a contributor at Business Insider, Naked Capitalism, Seeking Alpha, and ZeroHedge. During the Trump era, Lira embraced the alter ego of Coach Red Pill to focus on self-improvement and dating content.

Lira later did a full episode with Christoforou and Mercouris on the Duran where he gave his general thoughts on the Russo-Ukrainian conflict and the West’s use of Ukraine as a proxy against Ukraine.

While it’s good to see Lira alive and well, his case should serve as a warning to liberty conservatives and members of the Dissident Right about the dangers of doing journalism in a warzone that’s being propped by the Western Deep State (Ukraine in this case).

Nevertheless, it’s good to see Lira in one piece. Hopefully, he keeps up his coverage of the war in a measured manner.
