According to Dr. Anthony Fauci, almost everyone will eventually get omicron, but Democrats still do not seem concerned about the federal government’s response to COVIDm (based on a Rasmussen Reports/Heartland Institute poll).
CDC Director Rochelle Walensky announced that the currently available vaccines do not prevent omicron transmission or symptomatic illness from the virus. Despite this, most Democrats support vaccine mandates, and many want punitive measures against those who don’t get the COVID-19 vaccine.
Rasmussen Reports and the Heartland Institute conducted a new national telephone and online survey to gauge voter support for President Biden’s proposal to mandate vaccination for government and large company employees. The mandate is strongly favored by 33% of them. Biden’s vaccine mandate is opposed by 48% of respondents, including 40% who strongly oppose it.”
There is a similar divide over Dr. Anthony Fauci, the government’s top COVID-19 expert. Fifty-five percent (45%) have a favorable opinion of Fauci, including 28 percent who have a very positive opinion. Forty-eight percent (48%) have an unfavorable impression of Fauci, including 34% with a Very Unfavorable view of him.
“After two excruciatingly long years, likely voters are beginning to question the federal government’s handling of the pandemic,” said Chris Talgo, executive director of The Heartland Institute, which authorized this poll. “First and foremost, likely voters are beginning to sour on Dr. Anthony Fauci, who seems to have lost credibility after countless flip-flops.”
78% of Democrats support mandatory COVID vaccinations, which would force people to lose their jobs if they refuse the vaccine. The majority of Democrats favor Dr. Fauci. A majority of Republicans and unaffiliated voters oppose mandates and are probably not going to be inviting President Biden’s chief medical advisor to their birthday parties.
Further, a majority of Democrats prefer severe penalties for those who refuse vaccinations that can’t prevent transmission: For those who won’t take the COVID-19 vaccine, 47% favor a government tracking program to make sure they are socially isolated and quarantined. 55% favor fines for those who don’t receive vaccines. 59% favor keeping unvaccinated individuals in their homes, except in cases of emergency.
Now THIS one is scary.
Four out of five respondents think the federal and state governments should be able to fine or imprison people who publicly question the efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines (via social media, television, radio, or online). If Canada can do it for protestors, why not this?
As the Omicron variant of COVID-19 produces a spike in cases nationwide, about 75% of the US is already vaccinated against the coronavirus, and approximately 60% some-odd of those have gotten booster shots.
Americans are obviously concerned about new variants of the COVID-19 virus, but Democrats are certainly more concerned than others, and place more trust in vaccines to protect against the disease-even as the CDC announces that the vaccines do NOT prevent a case of the ‘cooties-CDC Director Rochelle Walensky actually went on CNN and said that vaccines cannot prevent transmission of COVID-19.
In 45% of cases, the government should force citizens to live in designated facilities or locations if they refuse to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
For those who will not get the COVID-19 vaccine, 47% support a government tracking program for those who won’t get the COVID-19 vaccine-to ensure that they socially distance and quarantine. Whether we would have to wear the yellow stars on our lapels remains to be seen.
Some of these tyrant-wannabes will go as far as to take your children if you refuse to get the jabbie. That’s more than double the level of support among the rest of the electorate – 7% among Republicans and 11% among unaffiliated voters.
In the survey, it was noted that President Biden’s strongest supporters are most likely to support his COVID policy and the harshest penalties for the unvaccinated. I could have probably saved them some money on THAT particular revelation.
“Among voters who have a Very Favorable impression of Biden, 51% are in favor of the government putting the unvaccinated in ‘designated facilities,’ and 54% favor imposing fines or prison sentences on vaccine critics,” the authors note.
Other polling from Rasmussen shows that Democrats have higher rates of fear related to COVID and new variants. Democrats, on the whole, expressed concern about variants such as omicron by 42% in December. Republican voters expressed concern in the same proportion as unaffiliated voters (22%).
Democrats were also far more likely to think vaccines provided more protection than the immunity gained from a “natural” infection.
