Liz Cheney Claims that Her Father is Deeply Troubled with the Present Iteration of the Republican Party

Earlier this week, Congresswoman Liz Cheney revealed that her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney, is “deeply troubled” by the Republican Party’s present day state. What concerns the congresswoman from Wyoming is the party’s drift from the neoconservatism that dominated the GOP during her father’s time as vice president.

At a panel discussion for the Aspen Institute where former Google CEO Eric Schmidt was also in attendance, Cheney said that her father is worried about the present state of the Republican Party in the aftermath of former President Donald Trump’s term in the White House.

“I would just say, my dad is deeply troubled about where are our party is, deeply troubled about where our country is, and [he is] just a tremendous source of advice and guidance and wisdom for me,” Cheney declared.

John Binder of Breitbart News added some context to Cheney’s statement:

The remark comes after Cheney was removed from House Republican Conference Chair in May, a decision celebrated by Trump at the time.”

Dick Cheney was instrumental in making the case for the Iraq war, a conflict which led to the death of roughly 4,500 Americans. Of those Americans who perished, 3,500 were killed in combat. Approximately, 205,000 Iraqi citizens perished in the conflict since 2003 as well.

Cheney-style neoconservatism placed an emphasis on non-stop intervention abroad and playing respectability politics at home with the Left. Dick Cheney has every reason to be disappointed with the present-day Republican Party. It’s an ideologically diverse party that is questioning dogmas with regards to foreign policy and mass migration.

This freaks out the Invade the World, Invite the World crowd whose entire ethos centers on engaging in missionary foreign policy expeditions while completely leaving our border open for virtually anyone on the planet to enter.

The neocon vision is an oligarch’s wet dream as it basically involves turning America into a shopping mall with nukes as opposed to a real nation with a people and traditions to protect. Thankfully, the GOP is embracing populism and is now gradually purging neocon laggards from its ranks.

The fact that the Cheneys are worried about the GOP’s transformation is a good sign that the GOP is on the right path.
