Mo Brooks Becomes a Co-Sponsor of Thomas Massie’s Gun-Free Zones Repeal

Thomas Massie has left his mark in the US Congress by being the sole representative who introduces legislation to repeal gun-free zones aka “criminal safe spaces.”

On April 7, 2022, he introduced the 2022 version of the Safe Students Act, H.R. 7415, which would repeal gun-free zones

Alabama Congressman Mo Brooks announced on April 8 that he would be co-sponsoring Massie’s bill.

In a tweet, Brooks posted, “98% of mass public shootings since 1950 have occurred in “Gun-Free Zones.” Mass shooters strike in places they know law-abiding citizens will be unarmed sitting ducks. I’ve cosponsored @RepThomasMassie’s ‘Safe Students Act,’ to repeal the law that makes school zones gun-free.”

So far, H.R. has 17 sponsors.

Massie introduced similar legislation during the Trump years, in which it was largely ignored. Sadly, this is the norm in DC, where Republicans talk a big game about being pro-Second Amendment but do nothing when it comes to going on offense to restore gun rights.

This makes Massie unique in how he is proactive about pushing pro-gun legislation. This type of effort is rare. Most Republicans prefer maintaining the status quo and just talking.

If we want to restore freedoms in America, we need more legislators taking action and not just talking a big game about doing stuff and never falling through. Thomas Massie shows the way forward.
