Ohio Senator Mike Gibbons Vows to Work with Rand Paul to Lower Taxes and Cut Spending

The 2022 midterms will offer liberty conservatives and national populists an idea of where the Republican Party is heading this election cycle and beyond.

The open US Senate seat for Ohio has a number of interesting candidates that could improve the Buckeye State’s pro-liberty profile.

Businessman Mike Gibbons, who was endorsed by Kentucky Senator Rand Paul on May 12, 2021, has a tantalizing platform for liberty conservatives who are more interested in the fiscal side of things.

According to his website, Gibbons’ economic platform is mostly focused on reducing the national debt and downsizing the regulatory state for the purpose of fostering more business activity.

In a tweet that he posted on April 18, 2022, Gibbons manifested his desire to work with Kentucky Senator Rand Paul in the US Senate to get the US’s fiscal house in order. Gibbons tweeted, “Let’s scrap the tax code, cut spending, and put more money in the pocket of Ohio’s middle class. I will work with Senator @RandPaul  to do just that. #OHSen

Paul is a proven fiscal conservative who has no time for DC’s big spending ways. However, one man can only do so much. Paul will need all the help he can get.

Gibbons has a solid rival in JD Vance, the author of Hillbilly Elegy. Vance is running on a more populist platform based on immigration restriction and a restrained foreign policy. The Ohio race for the US Senate is undoubtedly filled with two solid candidates.

One man can only win, but it’s a big plus for voters when they have more than one option to choose from in a given election. If more primary elections were like this, America would have a much higher quality of governance.
