On Sean Hannity’s Show, Kentucky Senator Rand Paul Calls for Restraint Against Russia

When most of the Republican Party is going back to their neoconservative ways, Kentucky Senator Rand Paul is standing strong as a voice of foreign policy restraint.

Last week, Senator Rand Paul made an appearance on the Sean Hannity Show where he discussed with host Sean Hannity the current conflict in Ukraine. Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022 and is currently encircling the bulk of Ukrainian forces in the Donbas region.

In light of these developments, there are several American officials who are calling for an escalation of tensions, whether it’s in the form of tightening sanctions, establishing no-fly zones, sending more military aid, among other escalatory measures.

Paul is not one of these officials calling for punitive actions against Russia.

On March 18, during his appearance on Hannity’s show, the Kentucky Senator stated “I don’t think we should be sending troops into Ukraine and I don’t think we should declare war on Russia.”

He stressed that the US should be seeking for “off-ramps” to get Ukraine out of harm’s way and opposed further military escalation. Paul’s anti-interventionist rhetoric is a breath of fresh air when the DC uniparty is clamoring for some form of direct or indirect intervention.

All it takes is one person to stand up and offer an alternative to the present interventionist paradigm. Conformity is the lifeblood of an ever-growing warfare and welfare state. Breaking the status quo requires that people deviate from the political norm and start challenging corrupt incumbents and gatekeepers in fields like media, academia and business.
