POLL: 62% of American Adults Believe They Pay More Than Their Fair Share in Taxes

The Biden regime is currently considering new tax hikes on America’s most productive individuals. However, it will likely face stiff resistance from many American voters if it tries to go through with that high tax agenda.

According to a Rasmussen Reports poll, a significant majority of Americans believe they pay too much in taxes. The poll specifically highlighted that 62% of American adults believe they pay more than their share in taxes.

In 2021, that number stood at 51%. In 2020, that number was 59%. Only 21% disagree and don’t think they pay too much in taxes. 17% are unsure.

Biden is rolling out a “Billionaire Minimum Income Tax” proposal that would establish a 20% tax rate floor on Americans worth over $100 million.

45% of Americans believe individuals who make double the amount that they do aren’t paying twice as much in taxes. Only 31% of those surveyed believe those who earn twice as much are paying at least twice as much in taxes as they do, which includes 9% who believe they’re paying over twice as much. 24% said they’re unsure.

Republicans (71%) are more likely to indicate that they’re paying more than their fair share of taxes. 62% of Democrats and 54% of independent voters share similar views.

Individuals earning between $100,000 and $200,000 annually are the most likely to believe that they are paying too much in taxes.

Private sector workers (72%) are more likely than government employees (59%) to say that they pay too much in taxes.

Regardless of how large the federal government has become, there are strong anti-tax sentiments within the American populace. Liberty conservatives should oppose tax hikes and propose fiscally conservative measures that downsize the administrative state while also providing tax relief to America’s most productive individuals.

The American managerial state is not worth funding and this writer does not fault people for believing they pay too much in taxes.
