Rand Paul is Attending “Emergency Conference” Hosted by The American Conservative and American Moment

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in late February has shaken up the geopolitical chessboard like no other military intervention has since the collapse of the Soviet Union.

In the United States, Russia’s invasion has galvanized the neoconservative and neoliberal national security establishment like no other. In fact, there are fears that this military incident is giving the foreign policy establishment more clout after being largely pushed to the side when Donald Trump was president.

Groups like The American Conservative and American Moment want to change that consensus. As a result, they’ve set up the emergency conference titledUp From Chaos: Conserving American Security”, which will be held on March 31, 2022. Kentucky Senator Rand Paul will be one of the main speakers at this event.

Paul tweeted about his attendance at this event on March 25, 2022. He said, “Join me next Thursday for an important discussion on foreign policy. If you register for the event with the code “RAND” it’s 33% off. I hope to see you there!”

Other big name speakers who will be in attendance include Senate candidate JD Vance, Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massie, Congressional candidate Joe Kent, among other big names. The other speakers can be found here.

The American Right needs a wake-up call on foreign policy. The neoconservative strain it embraced during the Bush era has made it weaker both domestically and abroad. The primary focus of the US should be to restrict immigration from adversarial nations like China (and restrict immigration altogether), decouple from China’s economy, and focus on Western Hemisphere-centric foreign policy.

If the US does not do that, it will experience imperial overstretch and effectively bleed itself to death like countless other empires have throughout history. This predictable fate can be avoided but it will require a new ruling class that understands the limits of US power abroad.
