Republican Party leadership never wastes a moment to prove how useless it is.
It’s no secret that the Biden administration’s withdrawal plan from Afghanistan has been a mess, but leaving Afghanistan is still good policy after 20 years of being in the country trying to remake it in America’s image.
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy criticized the Biden administration’s withdrawal on August 14, 2021. McCarthy tweeted, “What will unfold in Afghanistan will be a humanitarian crisis. The regime that is taking power is one that routinely violates human rights, particularly the rights of women.
Afghan women who have voted, gone to school, and lived independently for 20 years will suffer the most.”

Frankly, it’s not the US’s business to be defending human rights and leftist hobby horses like women’s rights abroad. The original mission of the Afghan invasion was to bust up terrorist cells, but then mission creep set in and US elites turned the Afghanistan conflict into a radical nation building experiment that has cost the US over $2 trillion and the lives of 2,300 troops.
While our country is imploding at the domestic level and the border is getting overrun by illegal alien invaders, there are out of touch politicians like Kevin McCarthy who prefer to virtue signal and continue to get America mired in conflicts that do not advance any pressing national interest.
These people must be booted out of office if America is to move forward. We can no longer afford to have neocons and adjacent groups dictating foreign policy.
