Ron Paul Warns About the Dangers of the US Getting Involved in Ukraine

Could the Russo-Ukrainian war get completely out of hand?

In an interview appearance with Michelle Makori, the Editor-in-chief of Kitco News, former Congressman Ron Paul shared his thoughts about the current war in Ukraine.

He was asked about what the U.S. government should do with regards to this conflict.

Paul suggested that the US consider “packing up” and “come home” to avoid getting further entangled in this conflict.

He called attention to how the U.S. has sent military advisers over the last 8 years since the Maidan crisis broke out in Ukraine. On top of that, he alluded to the CIA training people since the 2014 coup.

Makori pressed Paul on what should be done with Ukraine, asking if the US has a “moral obligation” to help out the Ukrainian government. The former Congressman maintained his non-interventionist position. He believes that American citizens can do what they want in their private capacity.

He alluded to how some American citizens “took a rifle and “started fighting for him [Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the president of Ukraine]” on their own accord. Paul stressed that “minding our own business is a morally correct position.”

The former member of Congress believes that sending money or military aid will “aggravate things.” For Paul, intervening in Ukraine “doesn’t serve our interests.”

Overall, the great doctor remained adamant throughout the interview that getting involved in Ukraine was not in the American interest and could potentially lead to escalatory actions that bring about great physical and financial harm.

Such voices of foreign policy restraint are desperately needed on the Right. It’s truly sad to see people fall yet again for calls to get America thrown into another conflict.

Liberty conservatives should follow Paul’s example and make non-interventionism a major part of their platforms in 2022 and beyond. They should make the case that our biggest threats are internal and largely created by our ruling class, as seen with our open border. That’s where the primary focus of our attention should be, not in far away lands.
