Senator Rand Paul Endorses Mike Gibbons in Ohio’s US Senate Race

With Ohio Senator Rob Portman announcing his retirement on January 25, 2021, Ohio has an open U.S. Senate seat. Candidates like JD Vance and Josh Mandel have generally been the focus of most media attention in the Ohio U.S. Senate race.

However, Mike Gibbons, the former Ohio Finance Co-Chair for Donald J. Trump for President in 2016 and an Ohio businessman,  may now be entering the conversation as a candidate to watch out for after Rand Paul endorsed his senatorial campaign on March 25, 2022.

In a video where Paul endorsed Gibbons, Paul stated “that I need help in the Senate from tough, principled leaders like Mike Gibbons.”

The Kentucky senator specifically needs help for passing a balanced budget bill that has repeatedly been struck down in the US Senate.

The Kentucky Senator added that “I know Mike Gibbons will stand with me to stop the spending and balance the budget.”

In a tweet published on March 25, Gibbons said, “I’m proud to have been endorsed by @RandPaul, who knows I’ll fight alongside him to defend liberty, cut wasteful spending, keep bureaucrats like Fauci accountable, and put America First in the U.S. Senate.

Gibbons’ campaign is centered on strong border security, a foreign policy based on peace through strength, fiscal conservatism, and free-market capitalism.

Paul is correct in noting that he needs help in the Senate. One elected official can only do so much. He will need like-minded individuals to help form a liberty caucus within that body.
