Thomas Massie Condemns the Radical Left’s Efforts to Intimidate the Supreme Court

Since the draft opinion of a Supreme Court decision that would have overturned the landmark Roe v. Wade decision was leaked earlier this month, the radical Left has gone bonkers.

As if the leak — a massive breach of confidence in an allegedly impartial institution — wasn’t enough, radical leftists took it to another level by protesting in front of the houses of Supreme Court justices. This has brought mob politics to an area of American politics that was designed to ostensibly be shielded from the excesses of mass democracy.

Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massie understands what’s at stake here. During a House Judiciary Committee hearing on May 18, 2022, Massie condemned “the radical Left’s last ditch effort to influence the Supreme Court through intimidation.”

He added that the draft decision “should have never been leaked.”

In this hearing, Massie observed how Democrats are amplifying the abortion issue in a way that’s designed to put pressure on the Supreme Court. If the Court were to change its opinion because of this mob pressure, it would mark a low point in American politics.

Let’s be honest here, a repeal of Roe v. Wade would not be the end of the world. It would just kick the abortion issue back to the states. Blue states will be able to abort to their heart’s content, while red states can regulate if not outright ban abortion.

Abortion is an issue that should ultimately be decided by states and localities. However, there are some people, especially on the Left, who would like to impose state-sponsored infanticide on a national scale.

This kind of political project should be stopped at all costs.
