Thomas Massie Drops Uncomfortable Truths About pro-Ukraine Warhawks

America in the present is a far cry from its late 19th century and 20th century zenith, where it was not only prosperous but also socially cohesive. Families were intact, the economy soared, people saved for the future, the state was small, and the United States largely minded its own business.

However, starting with the creation of the Fed and income tax in the 1910s, the US began its descent into administrative tyranny. Subsequent decades of interventions helped consolidate the warfare/welfare state. As a result, America has experienced significant institutional and social decay.

In the latter case, America’s once vaunted social cohesion has largely deteriorated, which is typical of empires that overextend themselves. These types of polities prioritize never-ending conflicts abroad while ignoring the social rot taking place at home.

Unlike his neoconservative and neoliberal colleagues, Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massie gets the bigger picture issues in America and knows that its imperial structure is unsustainable.

He posted a tweet on April 8, 2022 to highlight how perverted the American ruling class’s priorities are:

So many of the people who are OK with getting the U.S. into a war with Russia because of Ukraine are people who would not cross the street to help someone being assaulted.

In a sense, Massie is on to something. The US is a post-national imperium, where its ruling class is more interested in serving the interests of foreigners, and even going as far as to save the lives of foreigners. All while the domestic population is ignored and left to rot.

That’s how things work in the global consumer imperium that is the US. Massie understands this, and hopefully he and his network of liberty conservatives can muster up the resources to build a de facto liberty caucus in the US House.

America can no longer afford to be governed by neocons and neoliberals.
