Trump Calls Iraq War “The Worst Decision Ever Made” in American History

The past week has been quite amusing for anti-war supporters within the America First movement.

On October 7, 2019, President Donald Trump announced that he would remove troops from Northern Syria in an effort to phase out this conflict which has witnessed U.S. involvement since 2014.

In his tweet on October 9, Trump stated that “The United States has spent EIGHT TRILLION DOLLARS fighting and policing in the Middle East. Thousands of our Great Soldiers have died or been badly wounded. Millions of people have died on the other side.”

He followed up by saying that the decision to go into Iraq “is the worst decision ever made” in America’s history.

GOING INTO THE MIDDLE EAST IS THE WORST DECISION EVER MADE…..IN THE HISTORY OF OUR COUNTRY! We went to war under a false & now disproven premise, WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION. There were NONE! Now we are slowly & carefully bringing our great soldiers & military home. Our focus is on the BIG PICTURE! THE USA IS GREATER THAN EVER BEFORE!

This decision has obviously been met with tremendous pushback from neoconservatives like Senator Lindsey Graham and political commentator Ana Navarro.

Nevertheless, Trump should stand firm despite all the shrieking from the neoconservative and neoliberal establishment.

Sadly, he is still giving into neoconservative elements within his administration by allowing the deployment of 3,000 American troops to Saudi Arabia.

America First supporters can only hope that Trump lives up to his campaign rhetoric and make a decisive exit out of the Middle East.
