The DC Uniparty showed its true colors when a $40 billion military aid package to Ukraine was passed on a 368-57 vote on May 10, 2022. Curiously, the 57 elected officials who voted against the bill were all Republicans. However, the majority of Republicans (149) voted for this monstrosity of an aid bill, thus indicating the party is still stuck on neoconservative time in a sensitive geopolitical moment.
The entire purpose of this bill is to continue prosecuting a de facto proxy war against Russia as it continues its military operation in Ukraine. The US Deep State hopes this continued flow of aid will give Russia its own Afghanistan.
Nevertheless, this vote marked significant progress in terms of Republican opposition to the interventionist cabal. For example, on previous votes, it was only representatives such as Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massie, Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, Arizona Congressman Paul Gosar, and Arizona Congressman Andy Biggs who would vote against these bills.
Now, there appears to be a slow, but steady growth in the number of Republican politicians who are growing skeptical of interventionism abroad.
Nevertheless, there is still work to be done in the GOP. Florida State Representative and current candidate for Florida’s 7th congressional district Anthony Sabatini is well aware of this and has a modest proposal to address the neocon problem.
In a tweet he posted on May 16, Sabatini declared “Every Republican who voted to take $40 billion dollars from Americans & give it to Ukraine must be REMOVED.”
Make no mistake about it, Republicans who act out of line must ultimately be disciplined. We cannot tolerate swampy behavior. Giving a pass to this only encourages Republicans to misbehave and perpetuate the status quo.
At the end of the day, politicians respond to pressure or lack thereof. When one turns up the heat, some politicians end up seeing the light. For those who don’t respond to pressure, they simply must be voted out of office.
