The Ukrainian central bank has announced they are banning purchases made with Bitcoin as the fledgling puppet government enacts currency controls while their power slips away.
In addition to banning bitcoin purchases, they are also restricting purchases conducted with foreign currency up to $3,300. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wants as many Ukrainians to suffer economic ruin on his demented quest to start World War 3.
The National Bank of Ukraine has classified crypto purchases under the category of “quasi cash transactions.” They hope that their authoritarian measures will stop the “unproductive outflow of capital,” which is an Orwellian neologism to justify the extreme Draconian repression underlying the measure.
“The relevant changes will help improve the foreign exchange market, which is a necessary prerequisite for easing restrictions in the future, as well as reducing pressure on Ukraine’s international reserves,” the NBU wrote.
“Quasi cash transactions […] are mainly carried out to circumvent the current restrictions of the National Bank, in particular for investing abroad, which is prohibited under martial law. Therefore, the relevant transactions should be interpreted as leading to unproductive capital outflows,” they added.
